What Is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy is collaborative talk therapy between you and a licensed clinician. Sessions focus on your concerns — emotional, behavioral, relational, or situational — with treatment shaped around your needs rather than a fixed formula. Therapy may include insight-building, skill development, processing difficult experiences, and working toward goals you define together with your therapist.

Who It Helps & Common Reasons to Seek Support

Individual therapy can help adults, teens, and children who want support with personal challenges or growth. Common reasons people reach out include:

  • Anxiety, worry, or persistent stress
  • Depression, low mood, or loss of motivation
  • Life transitions such as divorce, career change, or becoming a parent
  • Relationship difficulties or patterns you want to understand
  • Grief, trauma, or difficult experiences you are ready to process
  • ADHD, focus, or executive functioning challenges
  • Self-esteem, identity, or personal growth goals

Our Approach

Our therapists draw from evidence-informed approaches and adapt them to each client. Depending on your needs, therapy may include:

  • Building a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship
  • Identifying patterns, triggers, and strengths
  • Developing coping, communication, and emotional regulation skills
  • Setting realistic goals and reviewing progress over time
  • Coordinating with other providers when appropriate (with your consent)
