About Katie
Katie Nash, LCSW, is the owner and founder of Newtown Family Therapy and Trumbull Family Therapy. Since beginning her career in the mental health field in 2008, she has been dedicated to helping adults navigate life's challenges, strengthen relationships, and create lasting, meaningful change.
Katie's approach is warm, collaborative, and insight-oriented. She provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can better understand themselves, process difficult emotions, and develop healthier ways of coping. She believes that meaningful therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and compassion. While therapy often involves difficult conversations, Katie also believes that laughter has an important place in the healing process and enjoys bringing warmth and humor into her work when it feels natural and appropriate.
Drawing from psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, and other evidence-based approaches, Katie helps clients explore the deeper emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and life experiences that shape how they think, feel, and relate to others. By increasing self-awareness and understanding the root causes of emotional distress, clients are empowered to break longstanding patterns and move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Katie has a particular interest in working with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the lasting impact of childhood experiences. She especially enjoys supporting women as they navigate the complexities of parenting while maintaining their own identity, relationships, and emotional well-being.
Katie believes that every person has the capacity for growth and resilience. Her goal is to help clients reconnect with their strengths, cultivate greater self-understanding, and create meaningful, lasting change that extends well beyond the therapy room.
Katie earned her Master of Social Work from New York University. In addition to her clinical work, she is passionate about building a practice that provides compassionate, evidence-based care and serves as a trusted resource for individuals, couples, and families throughout the community.Katie's Therapeutic Approach
Katie’s approach to therapy is warm, empathetic, and insight-oriented. She draws from psychodynamic therapy to help clients better understand how past experiences, emotional patterns, and relationship dynamics may be shaping their current lives.
In sessions, Katie works with clients to create space for reflection, emotional exploration, and personal growth. Her goal is not only to help clients cope with immediate challenges, but also to support deeper self-understanding and long-term healing.
Clients often describe Katie as warm, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. She values authenticity in the therapeutic relationship and believes that while therapy can be challenging, it can also include moments of humor, perspective, and genuine connection. Her goal is to help clients leave each session with greater insight, hope, and confidence in their ability to create meaningful change.Specialties
